Lewis Miller is a professional floral designer by day, and The Banksy of Flower Design by night.
He’s created a project called Flower Flash whereby he and his team install large flower displays on city streets under the cover of night. They are put together in less than twenty minutes, and usually vanish within a matter of hours. There’s a lot of gray and coldness in cities, so such striking contrast to the urban landscape is welcome, particularly when it is made of something so colorful and naturally fragrant. These installations are an instant pick-me-up and yet another lesson in impermanence, not unlike that of a Tibetan sand mandala. Spring has recently sprung in New York and I hope that means we’ll be seeing more of these!
